Best Time to Rent a Motorcycle in Antalya: Monthly Guide
Short answer
May and October are the most comfortable months to ride in Antalya: the average temperature is about 23°C and the roads are quieter than in summer. July and August average 33°C, so ride early in the morning or in the evening. From December to February the coast stays rideable on dry days, but mountain roads above 800 metres can be icy.
Is spring (March to May) a good time to ride in Antalya?
Spring is the finest time to ride in Antalya. Temperatures range from 18°C in March to 28°C in May, warm enough for comfortable riding without the intense heat of summer. The Taurus Mountains are still snow-capped in March and early April, creating a dramatic backdrop to coastal rides.
Road traffic is significantly lighter than in summer, accommodation is cheaper, and the landscape is at its most lush after the winter rains. The wildflowers that carpet the Lycian hillsides in April are one of Turkey's most underrated natural spectacles. We strongly recommend booking early for May, as it is our single busiest month.
Can you ride in Antalya in summer (June to August)?
Summer is peak tourist season in Antalya, with temperatures regularly reaching 38–40°C in July and August. This is still entirely rideable, particularly in the early morning and evening when temperatures drop considerably, but mid-afternoon riding on exposed coastal roads can be physically demanding.
The mountain roads above 1,000 metres remain comfortable even in July, making the Taurus loop a particularly good summer choice. Bikes should be booked at least 2–3 weeks in advance during summer, as availability can be limited for the larger adventure models.
How good is autumn (September to November) for riding?
September and October are arguably the best months of the entire year for motorcycle riding in Antalya. The intense summer heat has broken, temperatures settle between 22–32°C, the sea is still warm for swimming during lunch stops, and the tourist crowds have thinned significantly.
October is when the light turns golden on the Taurus Mountains and the coastal olive groves begin their harvest. Road surfaces are dry and clean after summer. November brings the first rain of the season, usually mid-month, before that, conditions remain excellent.
Can you ride a motorcycle in Antalya in winter (December to February)?
Antalya city itself rarely drops below 10°C, so sheltered coastal routes remain rideable in winter on dry days. Mountain roads above 800 metres can be icy and are occasionally closed after snowfall; plan winter routes that stay below 500 metres altitude.
The advantage of winter is quiet roads: on the D400 coastal highway there is very little traffic in December and January.
Which month should I choose?
For first-time visitors, May or October are the ideal months, perfect temperatures, moderate crowds, and the most photogenic light of the year. For riders who want the full adventure touring experience with mountain passes, May gives you snow on the Taurus peaks without the road closures of winter.
The rental conditions are the same in every month:
- For delivery to a hotel or another address, the fee depends on the distance and is stated in the booking confirmation.
- Delivery to or collection from Antalya Airport costs €60 one way; each direction is charged separately.

What are the average temperature and conditions in each month?
The table gives the average temperature and the usual conditions for every month. Antalya never completely closes for motorcycles: even in January coastal rides are possible on dry days, as long as you choose low routes and leave around midday, when it is warmest.

Which routes fit each season?
Spring (March–May): The Taurus Mountain loop via Termessos is at its absolute finest in spring. The ancient ruins of Termessos sit at 1,000 metres altitude and are surrounded by dense cedar forest. In April, the forest floor is carpeted with wildflowers visible from the road. The D400 coastal route to Kaş is ideal in May, perfect temperatures and light traffic. The Saklıkent Gorge road, which turns off the D400 near Kınık, is another spring favourite: a narrow canyon with ice-cold meltwater running through it, accessible on foot from the road.
Summer (June–August): Focus on altitude. The mountain roads above Elmalı and through the Beydağları Olympos National Park plateau stay at 20–25°C even in July. The road from Antalya to Isparta via Korkuteli climbs through apple orchards and pine forest, a dramatic contrast to the coast 30km below. In the early morning, the coastal road from Antalya east toward Alanya is beautiful: light traffic, golden light, and the sea at its calmest before the afternoon winds pick up.
Autumn (September–October): This is the season for the full Lycian coast, Antalya to Kaş and beyond to Fethiye if you have the time. In October, the cotton and citrus harvests are in full swing around Finike and Kumluca, and the roadside stalls selling fresh pomegranate juice and mandarins are part of the riding experience. The Saklıkent road is equally beautiful in autumn foliage. Winter (November–February): Stick to the D400 coastal highway west of Antalya toward Kemer. Below 200m altitude, the road is always dry and the scenery remains dramatic even in grey light.
How far in advance should I book?
For May, September, and October, our three peak months, we recommend booking at least 3 weeks in advance for any of our premium models (BMW GS series, Africa Twin). The 125cc and 250cc scooter range is available with less notice, but even these can sell out during Turkish public holidays (check the official Turkish holiday calendar before booking).

If your travel dates are flexible, plan around local events. The Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival (late October) and the Antalya Marathon (November) both cause accommodation and road congestion in the city itself; picking the bike up the day before or returning it afterwards avoids the traffic.

- If you cancel at least 48 hours before pick-up, the full prepayment is refunded. For later cancellations and no-shows it is not refunded. Refunds go back to the card through iyzico and take 3 to 14 business days.
