Short answer

The licence class you need depends on engine size, and a car licence alone covers only 50 cc scooters. Licence classes: B (car) for scooters up to 50 cc, A1 up to 125 cc, A2 up to 395 cc and a full A licence above that. The minimum age is 21. For the BMW GS models it is 25, with a full A licence.

This is the rule Turuncu Motors applies to every rental in Antalya, and the licence is checked at handover. A higher class covers the lower ones: a full A licence is valid for every model, an A2 licence for everything up to 395 cc and an A1 licence for everything up to 125 cc.

Turkish licences use the same class names as EU licences (B, A1, A2 and A), so the class printed on a European licence can be read directly.

Which licence do I need for each model?

The table lists every model in the rental fleet with its engine size, the licence class it requires, the minimum age and the daily distance limit. It is produced from the same data as the model pages, so the two always match.

Each model name links to its own page with photos, specifications and the booking form.

Can I ride a 125 cc motorcycle on a car (B) licence?

No. For rentals at Turuncu Motors a car (B) licence covers scooters up to 50 cc only; a 125 cc scooter or motorcycle needs an A1 licence or a higher class.

With a car licence alone you can rent the 50 cc automatic scooter listed in the table above. No motorcycle licence is needed for it.

A 155 cc scooter is above the 125 cc limit of the A1 class, so it needs an A2 licence. Engines up to 395 cc are covered by A2; anything larger needs a full A licence.

Is a foreign licence valid, and do I need an International Driving Permit?

Licences from EU countries, the UK, Australia and most other countries are accepted. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, carry an International Driving Permit with it.

The International Driving Permit is not a licence on its own: carry it together with the original national licence. It is issued in your home country, so arrange it before you travel.

Which documents do I need at handover?

You need three things: your original driving licence, your passport or national ID card, and a credit or debit card for the security deposit.

Original documents are required; copies and photos on a phone are not accepted. The documents are checked at the Antalya office or at the delivery address before the keys are handed over.

How old do I have to be to rent a motorcycle?

The minimum age is 21. For the BMW GS models it is 25, with a full A licence.

These are the rental conditions of Turuncu Motors. The age at which a licence class can be obtained differs from country to country; holding the licence is necessary, but the minimum rental age above also has to be met.

What insurance, deposit and distance limit apply?

Compulsory third-party (traffic) insurance is included in every rental. Comprehensive cover for damage to the rented bike and for theft is optional and costs €15 per day.

A security deposit is taken at handover and returned when the bike comes back in the agreed condition: €150 for scooters, €300 for manual motorcycles, €500 for adventure bikes and €700 for large touring bikes.

Daily distance limit: 150 km for 50 to 500 cc, 200 km for 600 to 900 cc and 250 km for 1000 cc and above. The rental period is 24 hours; each hour of delay is charged at ₺350.

What happens if my licence does not cover the motorcycle?

We do not hand over a motorcycle whose class your licence does not cover. The licence is checked at handover, so choose a model within your class when you book.

Riding a motorcycle without the required licence class is a traffic offence in Turkey: the police can fine the rider and stop the journey. The amount of the fine is set by the authorities and changes over time, so we do not quote a figure here; the current list of traffic fines is published by the Turkish General Directorate of Security.

If your licence covers only smaller engines, the 50 cc and 125 cc models are enough for the city and for the coastal roads around Antalya.
